Yokote Kamakura Festival With a history of more than 450 years, held in February every year (In the year 2020, the event will be held on 15.16 February ) In Yokote City, located in the southeastern part of Akita Prefecture

Kamakura is like an ice hut made by making snow piles and digging from the inside. Inside the ice hut there is an altar for worshiping the deity of the water to bless the fair water to eat enough. And a charcoal stove for warming and grilling rice cakes In the evening around 18: 00-21: 00, children will invite tourists to join the festival by grilling mochi and drinking "amazake" (is a low-alcohol rice wine).

The festival area is to the east of the Yokote Station and to Yokote Castle. Which is located about 2 kilometers away from the Yokote River, tourists will be able to see the beautiful atmosphere of the ice huts that are lined throughout the area. Or can participate in the construction of Kamakura huts at Komyoji Park

In addition, along the Yokote River, there are lanterns of more than 100 small Kamakura huts that are lit by candlelight until 21:00. There is also a snow statue and a small Kamakura hut. For children to have fun playing with snow and snow slides

Usually, the Kamakura Snow Festival is held only 2 days in mid-February each year. But if you missed this period Visitors can go to see the snow hut at Kamakurakan Hall, which maintains two ice huts throughout the year in a room with a temperature of -10 degrees Celsius, so visitors can see real snow huts during other seasons as well.

Getting there: From Akita Station, take the JR Ou Line to get off at Yokote Station and take the Shuttle Bus to the venue. Or walk about 10 minutes
