Yokote Kamakura Festival With a history of more than 450 years, held in February every year (In the year 2020, the event will be held on 15.16 February ) In Yokote City, located in the southeastern part of Akita Prefecture
Kamakura is like an ice hut made by making snow piles and digging from the inside. Inside the ice hut there is an altar for worshiping the deity of the water to bless the fair water to eat enough. And a charcoal stove for warming and grilling rice cakes In the evening around 18: 00-21: 00, children will invite tourists to join the festival by grilling mochi and drinking "amazake" (is a low-alcohol rice wine).
The festival area is to the east of the Yokote Station and to Yokote Castle. Usually, the Kamakura Snow Festival is held only 2 days in mid-February each year. But if you missed this period Visitors can go to see the snow hut at Kamakurakan Hall, which maintains two ice huts throughout the year in a room with a temperature of -10 degrees Celsius, so visitors can see real snow huts during other seasons as well.
